The Fortress Lights Up
When summer arrives, the Medicean Fortress of Siena transforms. The ancient Medicean walls cease to be just a monument and become something more alive, warmer, more contemporary: an open space for everyone, where residents, students, and tourists gather under the same sky to share music, food, culture, and socializing.
From May to September, Live Fortress is the beating heart of the Sienese summer: a project promoted by the Propositivo Association together with the Municipality of Siena, involving universities, cultural associations, and economic operators in the area in a rich, varied, and surprisingly accessible program.

Music, Theater, and Culture
The calendar of Live Fortress embraces different genres and languages: live concerts ranging from rock to pop, from electronic to songwriting to contemporary music. But not only that: theatrical performances, dancing, book presentations, cultural meetings, and talks on sustainability animate the evenings with a proposal that never ceases to surprise.
Street Food, Sports, and Families
On the Bastione San Domenico, street food and gastronomy initiatives turn every evening into a social occasion. There are also sports activities, wellness sessions, and events designed for families and children: the Fortress, in summer, is truly a place for everyone.
Often Free, Always Authentic
Many events of Live Fortress are free entry, making this event one of the most beautiful and democratic ways to experience Siena in the summer. Some shows are paid, but the balance between quality and accessibility is one of the strengths of the entire project.
