Coming from the south: take the A1 motorway towards Florence, reaching the Valdichiana exit. To reach Siena, take the Siena-Bettolle motorway link. Coming from Grosseto: take the Siena-Grosseto state road.

By train

Siena train station is located about 2 km from the city center. If you're coming from the north, there are direct trains departing from Florence's Santa Maria Novella station. If you're coming from the south, in addition to Chiusi, there's a direct connection to Siena from Grosseto station.

If you're traveling by bike, you can take it with you on regional trains. Consult the regulations on the Trenitalia website for information on transportation methods and conditions.

By plane

The closest airports are Pisa-San Giusto "Galileo Galilei" Airport and Florence-Peretola "Amerigo Vespucci" Airport. From these two cities, you can reach Siena by train or bus.
In addition, there is the Siena-Ampugnano Airport in the Municipality of Sovicille, a few kilometers from Siena. It is open exclusively to private and general aviation flights (VFR) originating from the Schengen area, with a 1,393-meter asphalt runway 18/36. Commercial scheduled or charter traffic is not permitted, and PPR (Prior Permission Required) is required for landing. For authorizations, fees, and ground handling services, contact the airport operator or the Aero Club of Siena.

On the bus

There are bus connections, especially from Florence, operated by Autolinee Toscane. It's also possible to travel with your bicycle on buses, subject to the applicable conditions. For more information, see the regulations on the official Autolinee Toscane website.

Siena can also be reached from cities such as Rome, Bologna, and Milan, which are connected by private companies that cover long distances and extra-regional routes.
