The collection and the tailoring heritage
The Hall houses over three hundred costumes used in the Historical Procession of the Palio, the result of a combination of historical rigor and artistic creativity. Garments from the major renewals of the twentieth century – 1904, 1928, 1955, 1981, and 2000 – reveal the different stylistic interpretations of tradition, while the recent restoration has brought to light details, embroidery, and original shades. Rows of costumes perfectly aligned, swords, helmets, belts, and cloaks complete a harmonious ensemble that tells the identity of the Contrade and their connection to the city.
An suspended experience
Entering the Hall means immersing oneself in a suspended atmosphere: the silence holds the memory of ancient processions, each fabric conveys emotions and stories of civic passion. The visit allows one to learn about traditional tailoring techniques and the role of each costume in the Historical Procession, offering a deep understanding of the Festival and the life of the Sienese.
Access and visit
The hall is open only on special occasions or by reservation, ensuring a reserved and intense experience. Admission is free, but regulated to protect the costumes and allow visitors to fully experience the textile and symbolic heritage of the city.
